Protech offers migration services which assist customers in executing complex conversion projects as well as integrating heterogeneous systems with minimal changes necessary. This enables customers to extend the functionality of their existing systems with minimal effort and risk.
| Complex Conversions |
 |
Protech's data conversion teams have the capability to successfully convert hundreds of millions of data rows from a variety of Legacy platforms to modern relational architecture under budget and within schedule. Their experience is inclusive of but not limited to the following:
- Migration of databases from IMS to DB2
- Conversion of Legacy DB2/CICS to modern Web-enabled environment
- Migration of financials from Mainframe to Oracle database
- Conversion of Legacy DMS data from UNISYS mainframe to an Oracle based system
The team has skills and experience to code the batch programs and scripts required for conversion in a variety of languages such as COBOL, C, Assembler, ORACLE PL-SQL and MS SQL procedures.
Protech's comprehensive conversion methodology consists of assessing the level of complexity of the conversion, combining user input with Protech's business knowledge to identify conversion clusters, prioritizing business needs, developing project plans, creating sample converted data for validation, documenting requirements, performing thorough testing, and incorporating the lessons learned into subsequent phases to minimize risk.
| Legacy Bridges: Heterogeneous Platforms/Systems Integration |
 |
Protech has successfully met the challenge of integrating heterogeneous platforms while maintaining a synchronized state between the systems with minimal changes. This success applies to multiple Protech customer engagements related to Legacy System migrations of both small and large data systems. This expertise has allowed us to use integration bridges to migrate systems in phases using our Legacy System migration strategy. As an example, the migration of a CICS system to an SQL server based system was done in phases, and the integrity of data on either platform was maintained using MQ Series middleware until the migration was completed in its entirety.
In another engagement, Protech accomplished the challenge of middleware integration so successfully that the client chose not to migrate the entire system as originally planned thus saving valuable time and resources..
Protech also offers a risk mitigated migration plan to move legacy systems to its state of the art CSEnext framework. Click here to learn more
